We train women in the village to make hand crafts so that they can earn an income to support their families. The Aitenga Women Self-Empowerment Program started in 2015. We started by teaching women to make earrings by hand, and now they are being trained in working with sewing machines and are making drawstring bags. In the future, we plan to teach them to make a variety of products out of African ‘Kitenge’ fabric.

Apart from income generation, we support these women with additional savings for each product they make. MADUFAFA also provides lessons on entrepreneurship and character development along the way in order to give these women an opportunity to empower themselves and build their self-confidence. Eventually, we hope to see our ladies starting their own businesses with the savings and skills they have acquired at MADUFAFA.
